
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – An East Village woman, 23, woke up to a burglar laying down next to her in bed after he broke into her apartment Wednesday, police said. Police released photos of the suspect to help their investigation.
At about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday a man broke into the 23-year-old’s apartment near East 11th Street and Avenue A in Alphabet City, police said.
Upon entry the suspect climbed into bed with the sleeping woman, officials said. She woke quickly and caused the intruder to flee the apartment.
There were no injuries reported in relation to this incident.
The suspect, who is shown in photos released by the NYPD, is about 5’9”, 170 pounds and was last seen wearing a blue hat, glasses, black hoodie, black and white jacket, beige sweatpants and light-colored shoes.
Bolbir Sing, 34, works at a nearby 7-Eleven and told the New York Post that he recognized the suspect, who he said comes into the store frequently and hangs out on the corner of East 11th Street.
“He comes with a group of four or five others. Usually comes in the evening around 7 p.m. Sometimes he steals beer and candy,” Sing told the Post.
