Driver intentionally mowed down pedestrian in Manhattan hit-run: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was intentionally struck by a driver on Monday night in a Lower Manhattan hit-and-run, police said.

The 29-year-old was struck by a sedan near East 4th Street and Avenue D in the East Village at about 11:30 p.m., officials said.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim was standing in the roadway when he was struck by the car heading northbound.

After the initial collision, police said that the driver made a U-turn and hit him again while heading south.

EMS transported the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.

It wasn't immediately clear what may have motivated the attack, or if the victim and suspect are known to each other.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
