NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Carnegie Hall on Thursday canceled its events through July, citing concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Events at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, Zankel Hall and Weill Recital Hall will be canceled from April 6 through July, Carnegie Hall said in a press release.
All three of Carnegie Hall’s performance venues have been shuttered since March 13 due to COVID-19.
“While we had hoped to be able to open the Hall in some capacity by this summer, it is clear that more time is required to address the COVID-19 crisis before artists, audiences and staff can return safely,” Carnegie Hall’s executive and artistic director, Clive Gillinson, said in a statement.
“We are heartened that health conditions have slowly started to improve now that vaccines have started to become available,” Gillinson added. “We will continue to consult with medical and health professionals to determine the best approach and timeline for bringing live music safely back to the Hall.”
Carnegie Hall’s Voices of Hope festival is still set to take place from April 16 to April 30, but will be virtual, the release noted.
