NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A cat that made its escape during a TSA checkpoint at LaGuardia Airport on Christmas Eve was found and rescued nearly two weeks later.
"WONDERFUL NEWS!!!" the Queens Lost & Found Pets organization wrote on Facebook. "Muji, the cat stuck in the ceiling at LaGuardia Airport has been safely captured!"
Muji and her owner, 43-year-old pastry chef Taylor Le were headed to California when TSA agents insisted that she be taken out of her carrier to walk through an airport security metal detector.
After walking through the metal detector, the kitty got spooked, bit Le, "freaked out and ran off," she told the New York Post.
The 6-year-old cat paused and laid down at a checkpoint area but then jumped onto the Southwest ticket counter, leaped over the luggage-weighing scale, and ran into a mechanical room, where two airport operators tried to capture her but failed.
She then crawled into a ceiling enclosure and disappeared.
Le missed her flight and airport control set out tuna traps for the cat, who remained in the ceiling.
With the help of a group of volunteers and a golden retriever named Abby, Muji and Le were reunited once again.
