NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Century 21 could return to New York City after closing all of its stores last year, according to a report.
In an interview with the New York Post on Monday, the retail chain’s new president, Marc Benitez, said the company’s “goal is to have some presence in the U.S. this year.”
Setting up at least one store in New York City is a “priority” for the company, he said, adding that the chain is eyeing Herald Square as a potential location.
“Plans for the U.S. are very much underway as we speak,” Benitez told the outlet. “We are looking at both bricks and mortar and an e-commerce strategy.”
The bargain destination filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced it would close all 13 of its locations this past September amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
