NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD launched an investigation after a child fell through a subway grate Wednesday afternoon in Brooklyn.
Officials were called to Rudd playground at Bushwick Avenue and Aberdeen Street just after 5 p.m. for reports of a person that fell through a grate, police told 1010 WINS.
The FDNY said one patient was taken to Kings County Hospital.
"The health and safety of this child is on hearts and minds. We are happy to hear that she was safely removed from inside the subway grate that runs through Rudd Playground by good Samaritans," the NYC Parks Department said in a statement.
The age and extent of the child's injuries are not yet known.
Few other details were released and an investigation remains ongoing.
