VIDEO: Citi Bike collides with incoming train causing fireball on Queens track

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Citi Bike that was rolled onto a Queens subway track exploded into a fireball as it collided with an approaching R train Sunday night.

Video of the incident at the Steinway and 34th Avenue subway in Astoria showed commuters fleeing the scene to avoid breathing the smoke after someone is heard saying, "Oh my god, oh no, no, no."

The incident caused the incoming train to engage its emergency brake, with authorities now seeking the alleged culprit for reckless endangerment, police said.

An NYPD spokesperson told The New York Post that an unidentified male "rolled" the bike onto the southbound track, causing the fireball to occur at 10:25 p.m.

"This was an attack on all of New York City that took place in the transit system and the miscreants who threw that bike in the path of an oncoming train should be prosecuted for their reckless disregard for [the] safety of subway riders and workers," MTA spokesperson Tim Minton said in a statement.
