NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a Colorado man months after another man was shot in the face as he sat in his car in Chinatown, authorities said Tuesday.
Khalil Smith, 24, of Colorado Springs, Colorado was charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
At about 12:40 a.m. on Friday, June 2, a 28-year-old man was sitting inside his vehicle in front of 51 Chrystie St. when Smith approached him and engaged him in a verbal dispute.
As the dispute escalated, Smith displayed a firearm and discharged it multiple times at the victim, officials said.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to left cheek and a graze wound to the back of the neck.
The victim transported himself in his vehicle to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
It wasn't immediately clear if Smith and the victim were known to each other before the shooting.
