NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a suspect who shot a tow truck driver in Queens on Friday morning as he was attempting to hitch two cars to his vehicle, sources told 1010 WINS.

The gunman fired shots at the victim at about 10:30 a.m. at a home on 128th Street in Locust Manor, police said.

Sources told 1010 WINS that the victim, a 37-year-old man, was in the process of repossessing two vehicles at the time of the shooting. He was struck once in the left ankle, police said.

Neighbors said that they were not aware of the disturbance until police arrived at the scene.

“I ain’t seen nothing until when the guns was at my window,” Yolanda told 1010 WINS.

Aaron, who lives across the street, didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary until he saw SWAT members and police officers respond.

"I came outside when they pulled up,” he told 1010 WINS. “I was like ‘What? What’s going on?’”

The suspect fled the scene and the victim was transported by first responders to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition, officials said.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
