Cops searching for man who stole $6K with phony check in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a man who cashed a fraudulent check for $6,000 in Brooklyn last month.

The man cashed the phony check at Reliable Check Cashing in Borough Park around 5 p.m. on March 12, according to officials.

Police are asking anyone with information on the theft to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Anonymous tips can also be submitted on the Crime Stoppers website or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
