Cops searching for suspect in Queens Catholic church burglary

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a person who burglarized a Catholic church in Queens last week.

The unidentified burglar used specialized tools to force their way into Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Jackson Heights around 5:30 a.m. on May 18, according to officials.

The suspect allegedly stole about $60 cash as well as $890 worth of statues and other religious items.

Police are asking anyone with information on the burglary to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Anonymous tips can also be submitted on the Crime Stoppers website or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
