NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – An off-duty city correction officer was arrested for impersonating an NYPD officer and pulling someone over in Brooklyn, police said on Friday.

Louie Herschtein, 59, was allegedly driving his own car when he spotted a motorist and pulled him over at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday near East 5th Street and Avenue L in Midwood.

Herschtein got out of his car with his off-duty weapon visible, and told the other driver, “I’m a police officer,” police told The Daily News.

Herschtein was arrested at approximately 2:03 p.m. after police received a 911 call. It's unclear if the driver or someone else made the call.

He faces charges of menacing and false personation, police said.
