NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD will begin offering the COVID-19 vaccine within two weeks, the New York Post reported.
Starting Dec. 29, there will be three locations set up by the department's medical unit to administer the Moderna vaccine, including Floyd Bennet Field, Rodman's Neck Outdoor Range and Flushing Meadow Park Aquatic Center, the report adds.
Any officers wanting to take the vaccine will have access to the initial batch of more than a half-million doses set for essential workers in New York.
The vaccine will not be mandatory, according to Police Commissioner Dermot Shea.
"No, it won't be mandatory," Shea said during an interview on Tuesday. "It'll be similar to the flu vaccines that we do."
