NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – GOP mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa has invited Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to help him clean up a "polluted" stretch of roadway in the Bronx later this month.
Sliwa sent a letter about the Aug. 21 cleanup to the Democratic congresswoman last week, according to the New York Post.
The Guardian Angels founder wants to tidy up a portion of East Tremont Avenue in Parkchester that's in AOC's congressional district.
"I hope you can join me in picking up trash and removing garbage from this polluted location site in the Bronx," Sliwa wrote in his letter.
Sliwa acknowledged that he and the progressive firebrand are "a politically unlikely duo."
But he maintained "this bipartisan invitation reflects the important message that all New Yorkers can come together to improve our City through public service — regardless of political affiliation."
AOC has yet to respond to the invitation, according to the report.
