NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Music icon Cyndi Lauper’s son was arrested on Wednesday night after police responded to a shooting in Harlem, the NYPD said.
Lee Win Omar, 24, was shot in the leg on West 112th Street at 7:15 p.m., police said.
Officers then conducted a canvass of the area and found rapper Declyn "Dex" Lauper, 26, in possession of a loaded gun.
Lauper was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance, officials said.
Omar is stable at Mount Sinai Morningside. Police said that he also caught a charge for criminal possession of a weapon.
There has yet to be a charge in the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
Lauper, the son of the music legend and actor David Thornton, was reportedly charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle after being found in a stolen Mercedes Benz in July 2022.
He pleaded guilty in October and got off with private community service, according to the New York Post.
