NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The lineup for four hip-hop-focused “Homecoming” concerts in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island next month was announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday.
The concerts will precede the “grand finale” in Central Park on Aug. 21 and will be focused on hip-hop and the city’s contribution to the genre, with each concert highlighting talent from that borough, de Blasio said at a briefing.
The lineup includes classic names in hip-hop like Mobb Deep, EPMD, Remy Ma, Slick Rick, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Soulsonic Force and more, along with performers from other genres.
The concerts during New York City's "Homecoming Week" will celebrate the city's recovery from the pandemic, with the final concert in Central Park on Saturday, Aug. 21. The lineup for the Manhattan concert was announced earlier this week; it will include performances by Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Paul Simon, LL Cool J and more.
The concerts will be free for ticket-holders. Attendees must show proof of at least one COVID-19 vaccination to get a ticket, de Blasio said. Tickets will be released to the public in batches at nyc.gov/homecomingweek, starting on Monday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. They'll then be released on Aug. 3 at 7 a.m.; Aug. 4 at 9 p.m.; Aug. 5 at 7 a.m.; Aug. 6 at 10 a.m.; and Aug. 7 at 9 p.m.
