NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The decomposing body of a woman in her 70s was found floating in a pond at a Queens park on Sunday evening, and police are investigating.
A witness spotted the body in the kettle pond at Bowne Park in Flushing and called it in. When authorities arrived at about 5:45 p.m., they checked the body, found the woman unresponsive and pronounced her dead at the scene, police said.
It was not immediately clear how long the woman had been in the water. Her identity has not yet been released.
The medical examiner will determine cause of death. An investigation is ongoing.
According to the Browne Park website, it hosted a community clean-up event and silent disco on Saturday.
