NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday that the first phase of The Fountains, a new affordable housing development in Brooklyn, has been completed.
The first phase of the project includes two buildings in East New York that offer 332 affordable and energy-efficient apartments for families and adults with disabilities, according to the governor's office.
One building at 11629 Seaview Ave. offers 65 affordable apartments, including 17 units reserved for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

A second building at 911 Erskine St. offers 267 affordable apartments, including 67 units reserved for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
The project will ultimately include some 1,163 affordable homes on a 6.7-acre site, according to the governor's office.
"We have made an unprecedented commitment to address the lack of affordable housing in every corner of New York, but especially in Brooklyn, where the financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has been severe," Cuomo said in a statement. "Our aggressive approach to building new developments like The Fountains will provide high-quality, energy-efficient homes and supportive services to those who need them most as we continue to come back from this crisis."
