NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Manhattan doormen who witnessed a man brutally attacking an Asian-American woman in front of their building last month — but didn't try to stop him — have been fired, according to a report.
The Brodsky Organization suspended the two doormen after the March 29 attack, but ultimately decided to dismiss them following an "internal investigation," the Daily News reported Tuesday.
Surveillance footage showed one of the men closing the door of their West 40th Street building after Brandon Elliot, 38, beat Vilma Kari, a 65-year-old Filipina woman, in front of their West 40th Street building.
The doormen "came to the aid of Kari after Elliot ran off — but didn't call 911 to report the assault as it was happening," the outlet reported.
The organization "initially said the doormen had moved to close the door because it appeared Elliot had a knife," the outlet noted.
Elliot was arrested and charged with attempted assault as a hate crime, assault as a hate crime, assault and attempted assault following the attack.
Prior to his March arrest, he served 17 years in prison after he was convicted of stabbing his mother to death with a knife in the Bronx in 2002.
