NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An on-duty Department of Transportation worker was slashed by a delivery worker on an electric bicycle after almost crashing into his truck in lower Manhattan Wednesday morning.

It happened just before 7 a.m. while the 28-year-old worker was fixing a "one-way" sign near a bike lane on Broadway near Cedar Street.

Sources told 1010 WINS the the DOT employee was backing up his truck when the cyclist almost ran into it. The E-biker got off his bike and began yelling.

The two men began arguing when the bicyclist brandished a box cutter and slashed the worker in the arm, police said.

The slasher then took off down Liberty Avenue on his electric bicycle.

EMS rushed the city employee to NYC Health + Hospitals / Bellevue, where he was treated and released.

No arrests have been made and authorities are searching for the cyclist.
