NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police launched an investigation after one woman was killed and another man hospitalized when a vehicle jumped a curb striking the pair, early Monday morning in Brooklyn, officials said.
The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. as the victims were standing at a bus stop ned the corner of Utica Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights when they were struck, authorities said.
According to the NYPD, there were three cars that were drag racing in the area when a red Dodge Charger hopped the curb, striking the 20-year-old woman and 23-year-old man.
The driver of the Charger then got out of that car and hopped into one of the other vehicles that were racing and fled the scene, officials said.
The other vehicles are described by police as black and silver sedans.
Both victims were rushed to a local hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead, and the man’s condition is described as stable, authorities said.
There have been no arrests made in the fatal crash as of Monday morning.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
