NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Three NYPD officers were sent to the hospital with minor injuries Thursday night after an alleged 19-year-old car thief crashed into them while driving a stolen Porsche during a chase on City Island, police said.
At around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a stolen vehicle report at 24th Street and 40th Avenue in Queens, officials said.
Police said that during the investigation, officers discovered the vehicle and attempted to conduct a lawful stop, but the driver, identified as Anelka White, fled.
As White drove off, he smashed into the door of a police cruiser. The door then struck an officer who was standing outside the patrol car, cops said.
The officer sustained a minor injury.
With police in pursuit, the suspect fled to City Island.
Officers caught up with White at City Island Avenue and Horton Street in the Bronx, at which point police say he crashed the Porsche into their cruiser and was detained.

Videos posted on Citizen app showed two officers wearing neck braces being loaded into ambulances nearby a pair of wrecked cars.
The two officers in the cruiser sustained minor injuries, and all three injured officers were taken to an area hospital in stable condition, police said.
As of Thursday, White was charged with grand larceny, assault of a police officer, reckless endangerment, operating with no license, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting arrest, among other related charges, officials said.
