Shannon Cocozza struck 20-month-old Lian Mashni and her 31-year-old mother just after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Abbott Street and Scarboro Avenue in Rosebank.

Police charged her with failure to yield and failure to exercise due care.

Cocozza was reportedly wearing medical clothing, like that of a nurse or doctor, and immediately jumped out of the car to render medical aid to the baby after the incident.

Emergency Responders rushed the mother and child to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, where the infant died.

The mother is in stable condition with injured legs.
