NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A rideshare driver was carjacked after he refused a group’s ride request in the East Village, sources said Tuesday as police released images of the suspects.
The victim, a 51-year-old man, was sitting in his vehicle at East 3rd Street and Second Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, March 23, when his four attackers came up and asked to be driven to a specific location, police said.
When the driver denied the request, the group of males displayed a firearm and stole his vehicle, according to police.

They drove off in the vehicle, which was later recovered in Newark, police said.
The victim was not physically injured in the carjacking, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
