Driver in critical condition after crashing into Staten Island laundromat

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A van driver was critically injured after plowing into a Staten Island laundromat on Tuesday evening in a crash that also injured several other people, police said.

The driver careened into the Laundry Corner at 158 South Ave. in Mariners Harbor around 6:50 p.m.

Citizen App video shows the white van smashed against the front of the business as members of the FDNY respond.

EMS transported seven people to area hospitals, police said.

Among them was the driver, who suffered severe body trauma and was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
