NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A driver struck and injured a 94-year-old man as he crossed an Upper East Side street in his motorized wheelchair on Tuesday, the NYPD said.

The 94-year-old man was traveling east on East 90th Street around 4 p.m. on Tuesday when a 32-year-old man driving a Toyota Camry south on 5th Avenue hit him, police said.

Emergency responders found the 94-year-old man conscious and alert, with bruises on his body, the NYPD said. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition.

The 32-year-old driver stayed at the scene and hadn't been charged as of Wednesday morning, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
