NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a three-vehicle crash in Brooklyn that left a 62-year-old man dead and critically injured his passenger early Monday.
The crash happened at about 12:10 a.m. at Ocean Parkway and Avenue S in Midwood, authorities said.
According to police, a southbound Audi A5 slammed into the rear of a 2023 Toyota Camry, causing the Camry to spin out and strike a 2021 Toyota RAV4. Both the Audi and the Camry then careened into roadside trees.
The Camry’s driver, a 62-year-old man, was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending family notification.
A 39-year-old female passenger in the rear seat suffered critical neck and back injuries and was hospitalized.
The 25-year-old driver of the RAV4 sustained minor injuries, according to police. Both the Camry and the RAV4 were operating as for-hire cabs, officials said.
The driver of the Audi abandoned the vehicle after the collision, fled on foot and remains at large.
