WATCH: Cyclist captures BMW driver spit on her while in Queens bike lane
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A dispute between a BMW driver who spit on a cyclist in Queens Wednesday was captured on video.
Kara McCurdy, 27, was riding down the city's new bike lane on Crescent Street in Astoria at around 4:30 p.m. when she noticed a white BMW driving in her direction.
McCurdy didn't move from the bike lane, forcing the driver to stop. The driver is then seen pulling out of the bike lane before he spat on the rider from inside of the vehicle.
"I was not expecting to be spat on," McCurdy told The Post of the encounter.
"I pulled out my phone. I was just going to take a video and send it to my friends. I was like, I'm going to post this on Instagram because this guy is being a jerk," she added.
McCurdy was not injured but said the saliva hit her body and bike handlebars.
"It's always disgusting to be spat on, but in the middle of the pandemic it makes it more of a health and safety issue than a disgusting disrespect thing," she said.
