NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The New York City Department of Sanitation is continuing to celebrate the New York Knicks’ historic championship victory by launching a unique raffle for local basketball fans.
The agency announced on Friday it is offering five commemorative, Knicks-themed blue-and-orange street litter baskets to lucky winners who will be selected entirely at random.
The prizes are the official, full-sized industrial baskets used daily on city sidewalks. Each commemorative bin stands roughly 28 inches tall with a top diameter of 21.5 inches and weighs about 30 pounds.
New York City residents who are 18 and older can officially submit an entry online by visiting on.nyc.gov/basketgiveaway. A limit of one entry per person will be enforced, the agency said.
The deadline to enter the drawing is 5 p.m. on Friday, July 3. The winners will be announced later this summer, and those selected must be capable of retrieving the heavy, 30-pound basket directly from a pickup location in Lower Manhattan.
