VIDEO: Duo beats up woman, transfers money with Zelle in Manhattan

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for a couple who violently robbed a woman on a Manhattan street and transferred money through a payment application on her cellphone, authorities said.

It happened at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, when a 23-year-old woman was approached by a man and woman in front of 145 Bleecker St. in Greenwich Village.

The couple began punching and kicking the woman in the head, stole her phone, and transferred approximately $750 to themselves via the Zelle payment application before fleeing.

The woman sustained scratches and bruising to the head and body. She was transported by EMS to Beth Israel Hospital for treatment.

The suspects are described as a man and woman wearing dark clothing.
