EXTREME HEAT CONTINUES: Air quality alert in NYC, RealFeels soaring near 100°

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Alerts for parts of the tri-state area were issued on Wednesday due to soaring temperatures and deteriorating air quality, according to AccuWeather.

An Air Quality Alert is in place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday for New York City, the Hudson Valley, and New Jersey. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities during these times to reduce exposure to harmful pollutants.

A Heat Advisory is also in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday for New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, and interior Connecticut suburbs.

On Wednesday, the weather is a mix of sunshine and clouds, with hot and humid conditions dominating. Highs will reach 88 in New York City and between 90-95 in the northern and western suburbs.

RealFeel temperatures are expected to climb into the mid to upper 90s, making it feel significantly hotter.

At night, residents can expect mainly clear skies with warm and muggy conditions. The low will be around 72 and might be an uncomfortable night for those without air conditioning.

Thursday will be partly to mostly sunny, with continued extreme heat and humidity. Highs will rise to 92 in the city, while inland suburbs could see temperatures in the mid-90. RealFeel could approach 100.

On Friday, the extreme heat and humidity continues, with a high of 94 expected. The day will feature a mix of sun and clouds, with a possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening. RealFeel will again be near 100.

Saturday will remain very warm and humid with a high of 86. There will be a mix of sun and clouds, and thunderstorms may develop in the afternoon and early evening, particularly in areas north and west of the city.
