NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD released surveillance footage on Friday of a man wanted for allegedly impersonating an Amazon rep and stealing thousands from a 92-year-old man in Brooklyn last month.
Just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, the victim received a series of phone calls from people pretending to be Amazon representatives. They told him his account had been compromised and instructed him to withdraw $10,000 in cash for them to "safeguard," according to police.
The victim, who lives near Sterling Place and Butler Place in Prospect Heights, put the money in a box and later met with the suspect who collected the funds before fleeing the location on foot.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
