NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A famed Japanese jazz pianist was attacked by a group of teens in a Harlem subway station two weeks ago, leaving him unable to perform because of his injuries.

Tadataka Unno was attacked back on Sept. 27 when he tried to walk around a group of teens who were blocking a turnstile at the B/C subway station on W. 135th Street, police told the Daily News.

One of the teens accused him of bumping into her and her boyfriend then punched Unno in the face repeatedly, police said.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is said to be investigating, with police sources telling the Daily News that the boyfriend yelled "Chinese!" during the attack.

The attack left the musician with a broken collarbone and bruising to his head and body. He reportedly spent time in a hospital and needed an operation.

"Due to his broken collar bone he cannot play and does not know when he will be able to," said fellow musician Jerome Jennings, who started a GoFundMe.

The GoFundMe has raised more than $100,000 in seven days—well past its $25,000 goal—and is no longer seeking contributions.

Jennings said Unno was attacked just blocks from his home and just months after he and his wife welcomed a new baby.
