NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 75-year-old father and his 44-year-old son died in a fire that tore through their home in New Jersey early Friday morning, authorities said.

The blaze broke out at a single-family home on Ninth Street, near Jauncey Avenue, in North Arlington around 4:15 a.m., the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel who responded to the home found Safwat Saad and his son Maged Saad inside, the prosecutor's office said. The two were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 66-year-old woman who was rescued from the home was hospitalized after the fire, North Arlington Police Chief Scott Hedenberg told the Bergen Record.

It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the blaze. An investigation is ongoing.
