NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A funeral home director was robbed at machete-point last month by a man pretending to be in mourning who came into his Harlem business, police said Thursday.

Investigators said that the suspect arrived at Daniels Wilhelmina Funeral home on West 131st Street, near Malcolm X Boulevard, on the afternoon of Feb. 17. He had made an appointment to meet with the funeral director, supposedly to organize service arrangements.

Surveillance video shows the suspect greeting the director with a fist bump and sitting at the desk in his office before the meetup turned violent.

Police said the suspect suddenly demanded money, punched the victim in the head multiple times and pulled out a machete. He made off with the 66-year-old’s cellphone and wallet.

The victim is OK and refused medical attention at the scene, officials said.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
