NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A gas line that ruptured in the Bronx on Sunday morning was repaired by the FDNY and Con Edison after it caused a temporary evacuation of nearby residents and left the health of five people affected.
A gas valve ruptured at 379 Bedford Park Blvd., located two blocks from the New York Botanical Garden, on Sunday morning. Con Edison said that the FDNY began receiving calls about odors just before 10 a.m.
Con Edison and the FDNY quickly dispatched responders to investigate the rupture.

Citizen App footage from the scene shows large clouds of mustard and white gas in the street as responders line and block off the area to work.
EMS treated five patients at the scene, three of which had to be transported to an area hospital for inhalation of the fumes.
The situation was under control by 12:55 p.m., at which point both the FDNY and Con Edison personnel had determined that surrounding buildings were safe to reoccupy.
