
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An FDNY firefighter suffered a medical emergency while fighting a Brooklyn residential fire and remained in critical condition Monday, officials said.
The firefighter was battling a blaze at 1133 Lafayette Ave. in Bushwick around 11:30 a.m. Sunday “when he suffered a medical episode and went into cardiac arrest,” according to a statement from Mayor Eric Adams and FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker.

The firefighter was immediately treated by EMS and rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical, where was treated for critical injuries. He was then transferred to Lenox Hill Hospital.
One firefighter and two civilians were treated for minor injuries, officials said.
