NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A firefighter was seriously injured by a car that shifted while the rescue worker tried to stabilize the vehicle after a Hell's Kitchen crash, according to the FDNY.
Two cars collided at the intersection of 11th Avenue and West 42nd Street around 3:19 p.m., police said.
FDNY firefighters responded to the crash and attempted to brace and stabilize the vehicles.
While they worked, one of the cars shifted and struck a firefighter.
Emergency responders rushed the firefighter to Bellevue Hospital in serious but stable condition.
The FDNY said the firefighter was the only person injured, but the NYPD reported one other person was hospitalized with an injury.
Three lanes were closed on the busy Manhattan street due to the crash.
