MEDFORD, N.J. (1010 WINS) — Wildfires in New Jersey threatened about 40 Medford homes Saturday morning, according to fire officials.
The fire started in the Flatiron section of the Pinelands woods near Medford around midnight, authorities said.
The blaze quickly spread to about 180 acres, and firefighters scrambled to contain the fire before it reached houses.
The area at-risk centers around the intersection of Elderberry Drive and Jackson Road.
No property damage has yet been reported.
Another fire engulfed about 5,950 acres of the Bass River State Forest. That blaze is almost entirely contained, according to officials.
