NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright is expected to resign, sources told 1010 WINS, just over a week after Mayor Eric Adams was indicted on federal corruption charges.

Wright’s resignation could come as soon as Friday night, sources said.

“As always, no personnel changes are confirmed until it’s announced,” a City Hall spokesperson told 1010 WINS.

Last month, Wright’s Hamilton Heights townhouse that she shares with her partner, NYC Schools Chancellor David Banks, was raided and devices, including cellphones and laptops, were taken.

The exact focus of the investigation was not clear, but came the same day that electronics were seized from other top New York City officials, including Philip Banks, the deputy mayor for public safety and the schools chancellor’s brother; former NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban; and Timothy Pearson, a mayoral adviser and former high-ranking NYPD official.

Early last week, David Banks announced that his retirement from NYC Schools would come at the end of 2024, but the timeline was accelerated by Adams who said it was time for “real stability,” which wasn’t provided by having Banks and his replacement, Deputy Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos, on simultaneously.
