NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Shattered glass rained down on three NYPD officers Sunday night after a suspect on Staten Island fired shots at their patrol car, leaving them with minor injuries, police said.

The shooting took place near 294 Richmond Ave. in Port Richmond at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday when a Nissan SUV fled a police stop and was stopped by another marked police vehicle.

Officials said that the 31-year-old male suspect fired shots from inside his SUV, striking the patrol car. It’s unclear where exactly the bullets hit the vehicle, but three officers were hospitalized for minor injuries caused by shattered glass.
