NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A worker died after she fell down an elevator shaft at a Food Emporium in Hell’s Kitchen on Tuesday afternoon, the NYPD said.
Police responding to a 911 call around 3:55 p.m. on Tuesday found the 39-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive inside an elevator shaft at a Food Emporium on West 43rd Street, near 10th Avenue, the department said.
The woman, who suffered severe body trauma, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The NYPD said the woman was working at the store when she fell, but didn’t immediately release her name or say what her role was.
Food Emporium didn’t immediately respond to request for comment on the incident Tuesday evening. An investigation is ongoing.
