NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — LaGuardia Airport has been named the best in the United States by Forbes Travel Guide, one in a slew of recent recognitions for the Queens airport after its $8 billion transformation.
Port Authority executive director Rick Cotton accepted the award at Delta’s recently-complete Terminal C on Tuesday.
“When back 10 years ago we committed to building a world-class airport, I doubt we had many true believers, but I think we have won the skeptics over,” Cotton said.
Forbes Travel Guide bestowed the award on LaGuardia after receiving feedback from 5,000 top travelers and industry experts.
The award was announced in October, and LaGuardia celebrated on social media, noting that it went “From worst to best!”
The travel hub has also received the 2021 Prix Versailles for best new airport, Skytrax award for world’s best new airport terminal, a 5-star rating in 2023 for Terminal B and the Airport Service Quality award for best North American airport.
