NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A longtime member of the City Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) has been charged with sexual abuse for a 2021 incident in a Bronx park, according to a press release from the Department of Investigation.
The victim claims that Francisco "Cisco" Barrero, 63, grabbed her buttocks inside the park's maintenance closet, between July and August 2021. The victim, who has chosen to remain unnamed, was Bracero's subordinate in the DPR.
"The charged conduct is unacceptable in any workplace, and particularly reprehensible where it involves a supervisor," said Jocelyn E. Strauber, the DOI Commissioner, in a statement Monday morning.
Bracero had worked in the DPR since July 2002, and was still employed at the time of the alleged misconduct. He retired from the department in November 2022.
If convicted, Bracero could face up to a year in prison for a Class A misdemeanor.
