NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Bill Perkins, who represented Harlem in the City Council and state Senate for more than 20 years, was found safe after going missing Tuesday, police said Wednesday.
Perkins, 72, was found in good health and condition and reunited with his family, according to police.
Perkins had last been seen at his home on Morningside Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. His wife told police he suffers from dementia and that she last saw him in the kitchen, PIX11 reported.
Perkins was a longtime Harlem councilman representing the 9th District before he lost in a close race to Kristin Richardson Jordan last year. He also served 10 years as a state senator.
Perkins' cognitive health became an issue during his re-election bid, with The City reporting that his colleagues in the Council and others close to him were concerned about signs of "apparent memory loss and disorientation."
