NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Popular grocery chain Trader Joe’s is opening its first Harlem store on Thursday morning, bringing the trendy brand to a new community of customers.

Located at 123 West 125th St., the 17,800-square-foot store will carry the chain’s signature branded food and beverages, and its artwork will highlight local landmarks, including the Apollo Theater, Adam Clayton State Park and 125th Street.

“As a neighborhood grocery store, Trader Joe’s prides itself on hiring where our store is located,” a spokesperson said.

The store intends to hire over 100 new crew members from the area and transfer in support from neighboring Trader Joe’s stores.
Hiring is ongoing, and anyone interested can apply on the Trader Joe’s careers page.

The company will also stay true to its Neighborhood Shares Program, donating 100% of unsold products that are still fit to enjoy to a variety of non-profit, community-based organizations.

A brief ribbon cutting will be held Thursday morning just before doors are officially open for business. The Harlem store marks the tenth Manhattan location of the always-bustling grocer.

Store hours are daily, 8 a.m. through 9 p.m.
