NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a gunman accused of shooting a man that had attempted to rob him in front of a Washington Heights bodega last week, authorities said Friday.

Victor Jones, 47, was arrested at about 11 p.m. on Thursday and charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment, officials said.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23, police responded to a 911 call of a person shot in front of 67 Macombs Place.

Upon arrival, officers observed 48-year-old Daniel Straker with a gunshot wound to the back.

Straker was seen on a surveillance camera snatching a chain from Jones right before he opened fire, the Daily News reported.

EMS transported Straker to NYC Health + Hospitals / Harlem where he was pronounced dead.
