Harlem infant, Bronx toddler die in separate incidents overnight: police
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 8-month old boy from Harlem and a 2-year-old boy from the Bronx died in separate incidents that are currently under investigation, the NYPD said Wednesday.
Police responding to a 911 call around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday found 8-month-old Kehlian Valdes unconscious and unresponsive inside his home on St. Nicholas Avenue in Central Harlem, the department said.
The 911 caller told officers Valdes was having difficulty breathing, police said. He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he was pronounced dead, the NYPD said.
Valdes didn't exhibit any obvious signs of trauma, police said. The Medical Examiner will determine how he died.
Hours later, around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responding to another 911 call found 2-year-old Eliseo Figueroa unconscious and unresponsive inside his home on Elton Avenue in the Melrose section of the Bronx, the NYPD said.
Figueroa, who also showed no obvious signs of trauma, was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, police said. The Medical Examiner will determine how he died as well.
No one had been arrested in connection with the two children's deaths as of Wednesday afternoon. Investigations are ongoing.
