NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police were searching Monday for a hit-and-run driver who plowed into an NYPD officer directing traffic in Brooklyn on Sunday night and fled the scene.

The officer was working traffic control at Schenectady and Church avenues in East Flatbush around 8:25 p.m. when the driver of a black sedan struck him from behind, police said.

The driver continued traveling eastbound on Church Avenue, and didn’t stop to help the injured cop, according to police.

The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
