NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A homeless man beat a 56-year-old woman then stabbed her in the back during a random attack on a Brooklyn street Thursday morning, police said.
According to officials, the victim was attacked near the Apple Store on Flatbush Avenue in Fort Greene at about 8 a.m. on September 9.
The attacker then randomly began to punch the woman, who attempted to block the attack with her umbrella, authorities told 1010 WINS.
Police said the attacker then dropped the liquor bottle he was holding, picked up a piece, and used it to stab the victim in the back.
Before the incident occurred, the attacker "mumbled something" and "was incoherent," the victim told the Daily News.
EMS transported the victim to Brookdale Hospital where she was treated to make sure the glass hadn't punctured her lung.
Officials have not given a description of the attacker who still remains at large.
